Flick Goes Two-For-Two

HARTFORD, Ohio — A.J. Flick went two-for-two in Westner PA Speedweek sprint car competition with a victory Saturday night at Sharon Speedway.

Flick, who won Friday at Lernerville Speedway, passed George Hobaugh on lap 15 and led the remainder of the 30-lap feature for his second $3,000 score in as many nights. It was Flick’s second career victory at Sharon.

“Man I wanted that one- this is pretty cool,” Flick said. “George (Hobaugh) is the guy to beat on something like this. Freakin’ Ryan Smith comes from the middle of the pack to second again; he can’t give me a break. We usually struggle a bit when the track gets slick like this, but there’s something we’ve been playing with and the car feels really good. I have no idea how big of a lead I had, but I felt comfortable the entire race. I honestly had a much better car at the beginning than I was playing around with. I was biding my time and I didn’t want to make a stupid mistake when they greased the track when it had a little bit of water on it.”

Ryan Smith charged from 14th to finish second, while Hobaugh finished third. Darin Gallagher and Conner Morrell rounded out the top five.

Other winners were Ryan Fraley-Terry Bowser Excavating RUSH Sprint Cars, Justin Shea-HTMA/Precise Racing Products RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, and Will Thomas III-Whelen Econo Mods.Â
