Espargaro Leads Historic Aprilia Catalan GP Sweep

It was a historic day for Aprilia Racing team in the Catalan Grand Prix as Aleix Espargaro scored the victory ahead of teammate Maverick Vinales. 

Espargaro crossed the finish line 0.377 seconds ahead of his teammate.

The race was red-flagged after the initial start when championship leader Francesco Bagnaia crashed in turn two while leading, throwing the reigning champion off his bike. Bagnaia received medical attention following the accident. The Italian was taken to a local hospital. 

Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco, Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannatonio and Marco Bezzecchi were also involved. 

Bastianini was also transported to the hospital. 

Running second in the standings, Jorge Martin completed the podium in third. With Bagnaia’s DNF, Martin cut the championship lead to 50 points.
