MORRIS, Ill. — Paul Shafer Jr. came home again the winner of the 30-lap late model stock car feature race at the Grundy County Speedway Friday night.
The Portage, Ind., speedster scored his fifth feature win of the season at the third-mile paved oval.
Leading from flag to flag after starting on the outside of the front row of the 21-car field, Shafer guided his Paul’s Auto Yard-sponsored Chevrolet to the victory. Shafer had a 0.535 second lead at the checkered flag over fastest qualifier Nathan Kelly.
Rich Bickle Jr., Josh Wallace, D.J. Weltmeyer and current division points leader and six-time track champion Eddie Hoffman rounded out the top six.
Blake Brown claimed top honors in the 25-lap Mid-American sportsman main event. Winning for the fourth time this season, the Twin Lakes, Wis., resident defeated David Einhaus, Marqus Hoover, Rickey Mathis Jr. and Vinnie Keulbs.
Scott Gardner was the winner of the 25-lap street stock headliner over points leader Eddie Ligue and Rick Dawson.
Dan Schmeissing won the 20-lap four-cylinder class feature ahead of Trevor Starek and Danielle Dobczyk, who leads the current points in the division.
