Williams Grove Opener Approaches On Sunday

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The Williams Grove Speedway season opener presented by Hoosier is scheduled for March 17 featuring the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars.

The wingless super sportsman are also on the card. The Williams Grove Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars will compete in a 25-lap, $5,500-to-win main event

The wingless sportsman will race in a 20-lap feature.

Invader Zeb Wise from Angola, Ind., scored an upset win in the season opener last year when he stole the lead and win away from Anthony Macri on the final lap.

While it remains to be seen what invaders will enter the 2024 lidlifter, it’s a sure thing that a host of Williams Grove regulars will be on hand including previous opening day winners Lucas Wolfe, Lance Dewease, Danny Dietrich and defending track champion Freddie Rahmer.

Still missing from opening day lore is Macri who likewise will be in the field along with Dylan Cisney and more.

Over the years, no driver has stood in opening day victory lane at Williams Grove more than elder Fred Rahmer.  Rahmer took his first of six lidlifter wins in 1997 with his last coming in 2013.

The first 2024 race under the lights at Williams Grove is planned for March 22.

Along with the sprint cars, the ULMS Super Late models will be in action. It will be the only show of the year at the track for the super lates.

Last year, Williams Grove opened the season on April 7. Â
