Kreamer Scores At McKean County

EAST SMETHPORT, Pa. — The opening night of the Nittany Minitmart Fall Classic at McKean County Raceway unfolded under clear skies and crisp temperatures, with makeup events from the McKean County Fair race joining the card.

The makeup mini stock event saw Andrew Kreamer take the lead over Dylan Strade, with Ridge Cobb slotting into third.  Coming from the back of the field, Andy Schumaker made his way into the top five just before the halfway point, putting pressure on Kyle Babcock.

Schumaker started picking off spots, moving past Babcock and then grabbing second from Cobb.  Kreamer was able to withstand the last lap challenges from Schumaker to take the win, with Schumaker, Cobb, Kyle Babcock, and Kurt Babcock rounding out the top five.

The makeup RUSH Pro Mod feature was dominated by Dennis Lunger, who grabbed the lead from Al Brewer on lap wo of the 20-lap distance.

Steve Dixon was involved in an opening lap incident and while he was coming from the back of the field, C.J. Irons was moving forward, having a battle with Adam Ashcroft for third.  Irons grabbed the spot on lap eight and two laps later took second from Brewer while Dixon was working back toward the top five.

Dixon’s charge fell short when he had an issue on lap 17 which brought out the caution and set up a three-lap shootout.  Lunger held off Irons in the run to the checkers for the win, with Irons second.  Ashcroft took third, with Greg Johnson slipping past Brewer in the final laps to take fourth.

The Absolute Powder Coating Pure Stocks started their feature with Larry Mitchell taking the lead and Jake Wilber moving into second spot.  Bryce Swauger came into the mix a couple of laps in, taking second from Wilber and battling Mitchell for the lead.  Swauger’s race unfortunately ended when he pulled into the pits on a lap-eight yellow.

On the restart, Josh Fields moved into second and slipped into the top spot when Mitchell bobbled on lap 11.  Mitchell tried to regain the top spot, but Fields was too strong and took the victory over Mitchell.  Wilber had to settle for third, followed by Bruno Mowery and Mike Parmenter.

The Andrew’s Auto Salvage Mini Stock feature began with Daniel Clark and Andy Schumaker battling for the lead, with Clark pulling out to a good margin up front while D.J. Williams ran up to the fourth spot.  Williams pulled pitside on lap six and the third-place runner, Andrew Kreamer, had issues on lap eight and faded back through the field.  Nate Freeland moved into third as the leaders encountered lapped traffic over the final seven laps.

Clark saw his margin shrink to mere car lengths, but he was able to maneuver through the traffic and claim the win.  Schumaker was second, with Freeland third, followed by Kyle Babcock and Holden Heineman.

The Kid’s Mini Stock event saw Jared Parris and Ridge Cobb fight for the lead for the first two laps until Cobb locked into the lead and drove away for the win over Parris.
