Matt Kenseth Set For Joe Shear Classic At Madison In May

Oregon, Wisc. – 2003 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Matt Kenseth has revealed he will be competing in the Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway on Sunday, May 1. Kenseth, the 1994 track champion at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ will wheel a Pathfinder Chassis prepared Super Late Model in the ARCA Midwest Tour event which pays $15,000 to the winner.

“Joe Shear was a racing hero of mine, who mentored me early in my career. He was such a great driver and an awesome fabricator. I learned so much from him and can’t wait to race in the Joe Shear Classic,” Kenseth said in a media release. “I always look forward to going back to my home track at Madison. It’s great to see those fans and to be able to race in front of them again.”

Kenseth will seek his 28th career Super Late Model win at MIS. His most recent visit netted a fourth-place effort against the “Stars and Cars” of the ARCA Midwest Tour during the August 2019 Howie Lettow Classic. His last MIS triumph came in 2014. Kenseth’s son, Ross, was victorious in the 2011 edition of the Joe Shear Classic, a race named after the elder Kenseth’s mentor in short track auto racing.

The news of Kenseth’s participating in the Joe Shear Classic comes after it was announced earlier this month that he would also compete in three races of this year’s Superstar Racing Experience (SRX Racing) season.

A VIP Meet and Greet Party is planned, allowing fans the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with Kenseth, get up to two items autographed and have a professional picture taken with him. The VIP Experience will include a custom ticket good for the VIP area and general admission seating as well as pit access prior to 11:30AM. The VIP Experience includes food and beverages, as well as the autograph and photo opportunities listed above. A limited number of VIP Experience Passes are available for advance purchase at misracing.com/tickets for $108 each.

Adult general admission tickets for the Joe Shear Classic are just $25 in advance and $30 on raceday. Whelen Heroes, Senior and student tickets are $22 in advance and $27 at the gate, ages 6-11 $10 with kids ages 5 and under admitted free. Take advantage of the MIS Family Ticket and get up to two adult admissions and up to four youth admissions ages 17 and under for $60.
