Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Newman will run this year’s Little 500 at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.
It will mark his second attempt to qualify for the Little 500 — the crown jewel for the 500 Sprint Car Tour — after logging an eighth-place finish at the sprint car classic in 2022. With a newly-purchased chassis from Brian Gerster, Newman will be teaming up with Tim Clauson and Richard Marshall to form Clauson Marshall Newman Racing.
“Our goal is to go and have fun,” Newman said. “Best way to have fun is to go and win. Obviously, we would be thrilled with a solid finish in our first year with this group. However, the plan is to sit on pole position, lead the most laps and win the race.”
It’s been a year since Newman competed in a pavement sprint car.
