Paul McMahan Confirms COVID-19 Diagnosis

CONCORD, N.C. — Paul McMahan has become the second sprint car driver in as many days to confirm he has tested positive for COVID-19.

McMahan confirmed the news in a Tweet posted to his personal Twitter account Thursday afternoon. It comes one day after World of Outlaws regular Daryn Pittman confirmed he had contracted COVID-19.

McMahan, who drives the No. 13 Buch Motorsports entry on the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions tour, said his wife, Jan McMahan, began feeling ill on Monday after the pair returned home from The One and Only weekend at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway.

On Tuesday, Jan McMahan began showing symptoms of COVID-19, which led to both Paul and Jan McMahan getting tested. The tests came back positive on Thursday morning. While his wife has shown symptoms and is recovering from the virus, Paul McMahan remains asymptomatic.

Paul McMahan currently ranks third in the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions standings with no wins, four top fives and 15 top-10 finishes this season. McMahan stated the Buch Motorsports team plans to have someone else drive the No. 13 entry this weekend at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway and Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway, so the team can maintain its position in the championship standings.

It is not known at this time who will drive the Buch Motorsports No. 13 this weekend.
