Montgomery Lands Pink Lady Pole

MERIDIAN, Idaho — British Columbian driver Jeff Montgomery put down a lap of 10.928 seconds to claim the pole for Saturday’s ninth annual Pink Lady Classic at Meridian Speedway.

Montgomery was the only driver in the 10-second bracket and will be shooting for a $27,000 payday in the Speed Tour sanctioned 100-lap event.

Davey Hamilton Jr. will share the front row with Montgomery after his lap of 11.183 seconds was good enough to secure the outside front row starting position.

The top two drivers were locked into Saturdays 100-lap finale based on qualifying time and did not have to participate in any preliminary events.

“We had a fast car all through practice” explained Montgomery. “We just decided to lay one down. We were able to qualify late, which is great, because the track gets faster. The tire rule here at Meridian Speedway kind of supports going fast here. I think being on the pole is where we need to be. You avoid the mess in the back at the start.”
