There’s a new driver atop this week’s National Sprint Car Rankings.
Carson Macedo has moved past World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series point leader Brad Sweet to hold the top spot in the rankings that were released later this week because of the Memorial Day holiday.
Twenty-five winged 410 sprint car races were run last week (ending May 29).
Macedo has an average finish of 5.111 in 27 starts this season, compared to Sweet’s 5.630 average finish in 27 features. Both drivers picked up a win at Ohio’s Atomic Speedway last week.
David Gravel is a close third with an average finish of 5.667 in 27 races. Rico Abreu, who made his 20th start last weekend, and Danny Dietrich round out the top five.
Twenty-eight drivers have now made the 20 starts required to be eligible for the National Sprint Car Rankings.
Five hundred and 72 drivers have started at least one 410 winged sprint car feature this season.
Anthony Macri, who won an All Star sprint car feature last weekend, has moved to the top of the Eastern region standings. Joe B. Miller leads the Mid-America region. Cap Henry continues to set the pace in the Great Lakes region. Austin McCarl has snagged the lead in the Great Plains region and Corey Day is the best in the Western region.
A.J. Flick won all three races he entered over the Memorial Day weekend and he’s taken the lead in the PA-Ohio region. Trey Starks paces the Northwestern region.
Seventy-five drivers have combined to win the 136 features run so far this season.
Sweet leads the country with six victories.
