CANTON, Ill. — Ayrton Gennetten has been caught multiple times saying that Spoon River Speedway is one of his favorite tracks. Saturday’s 34th running of the Tom Knowles Memorial proved just that.
Gennetten was able to move forward from his third-place starting position and overtake early race leader Joe B. Miller.
A lap-nine yellow for Korey Weyant, bunched the field back up, after Gennetten and Miller, as well as Zach Daum forged their way through lapped traffic.
Returning to green-flag action, Gennetten’s No. 3 machine maneuvered around the three-eighths-mile chasing his fourth series victory with the Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series.
A second caution flag on lap 24 between Cory Bruns and Caden Englehart, set up a one-lap dash for the finish.
Firing on all eight cylinders, Gennetten easily secured the victory on the ensuing one-lap restart. Polesitter Joe B. Miller, Zach Daum, Ryan Bunton and Noah Gass completed the top five.
