Dave Steele Championship Dates Set

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – Showtime Speedway promoter Robert Yoho has announced event the dates for the third annual Dave Steele World Non-Wing Sprint Car Championship 125 will take place Feb. 25-26.

The action will kick off with a preliminary program on Friday, Feb. 25 with heat races and a feature event. The distance of this event has yet to be determined.

The following night will conclude the weekend with a 125-feature event that will once again pay $5,000 to the winner.

Just as it has been the past two years, the event will be governed by Little 500 rules.

The race annually pits the best non-wing pavement sprint car drivers in the country against Florida’s best.

Showtime ran several non-wing events this past season. Local driver LJ Grimm emerged to win eight  times in non-wing competition at the track. His eight non-wing sprint car wins was best in the country, and he would have to be considered an early favorite to win the 2022 event.

Kody Swanson has won the past two Dave Steele World Non-Wing Sprint Car Championship 125 events and has expressed interest in competing in the 2022 event and defending his title.
