INSIDER: Four Drivers Have Done The Double

Kyle Larson is hoping to become the fifth driver to complete the so-called “Double” by running the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the same day May 26.

Larson will drive Chevrolet-powered race cars in both events running his Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 at Charlotte, while driving a car co-entered by Arrow McLaren and Hendrick Motorsports at Indianapolis.

It will be Larson’s first Indianapolis 500 start. He’ll be the first driver to attempt the Double since Kurt Busch did it in 2014.

John Andretti was the first to tackle the endurance test in 1994 and Robby Gordon and Tony Stewart have also done double duty at Indianapolis in Charlotte, with Stewart the only driver to complete all 1,100 miles in a single day when he ran both races in 2001, which was his second and last attempt at running both races.
