ENSENADA, Mexico – Due to the ongoing developments of the coronavirus crisis and the various measures that have been implemented by authorities on both sides of the border, SCORE Int’l has elected to postpone next week’s 34th annual SCORE San Felipe 250.
Round one of the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship has been rescheduled with the new race date of May 9.
Mexico’s Federal Government has issued a National decree of safe distancing to be in effect from March 23 through April 19. Further, the Mexican Federal Government has mandated the rescheduling or canceling of all non-essential events of 5,000 people or more in the entire country of Mexico.
Additionally, SCORE has announced a date change for the 52nd SCORE Baja 500 race week from June 3-7 to June 16-21.
“In order to provide teams with as much time as possible to prepare between races, we have also rescheduled this year’s SCORE Baja 500,” stated Jose A. Grijalva, SCORE President/Race Director. “We sincerely appreciate the patience, support and understanding from all of our racers and sponsors as well as the coordination with Mexican Federal, State and Municipal Authorities, but under the circumstances that have impacted day to day activities around the World, SCORE Int’l has determined that these changes are the best options or everyone involved.”
“We also want to remind teams, crews, media and the fans the importance of following preventative measures such as washing hands regularly, avoiding direct contact with other individuals and covering your mouth when coughing,” added Grijalva.
SCORE will continue to monitor the health crisis and develop a more detailed schedule of events for each race over the next several weeks.
