Defending Winner Hill On Xfinity Series Pole

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Austin Hill of Richard Childress Racing will lead the field to the green flag for this afternoon’s Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Hill won the pole Saturday morning with a fast lap of 182.563 miles per hour in the No. 21 Bennett Transportation Chevrolet.

With just a few hours between the end of qualifications and the start of the race at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Hill had more pressing needs on his mind.

“The rest of my day is in the hands of my PR team,” Hill said. “Right now, I need to find lunch because before I know it, I’ll be in the race car to start the race.”

Hill’s Chevrolet edged the No. 48 Chevrolet driven by Parker Kligerman, who ran a lap at 182.441 mph.

Cole Custer was third in the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford at 182.319 mph followed by Sheldon Creed’s No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet at 182.216 mph and Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 BRANDT Chevrolet at 182.208 mph.
