USMA Releases COVID-19 Guidelines For Motorsports Media

MOORESVILLE, N.C. —  The United States Motorsports Ass’n has published its COVID-19 Guidelines for Motorsports Media, which became the latest addition to a rapidly expanding online toolkit containing best practices, protocols, document templates, contacts and other resources for the motorsports industry.

This resource is aimed at track operators, sanctioning bodies, race teams, media and other motorsports professionals as the industry returns to racing amid the various challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The media guidelines were aggregated and developed by USMA’s Motorsports Media Leadership Team, which is made up of industry stakeholders from across the spectrum of the industry, including broadcast television, major sanctioning organizations, promoters, digital media and the traditional press.

“The purpose of the forming the Motorsports Media Leadership Team was to identify media-specific challenges and opportunities related to navigating the impact of COVID-19 on motorsports and to develop and share solutions to help guide the industry back to business as safely as possible,” said Joe Tripp, SPEED SPORT CEO and Chairman of the USMA Motorsports Media Leadership Team.

These guidelines deal not only with the issues related to safety but also with media operations and messaging. Combined with the other resources available as part of the USMA’s COVID-19 Toolkit, the industry will be better prepared for a safe return to racing.
