INSIDER: Holland — 36 Years At The Grove

DRUMS, Pa. — Bruce Ellis retired as the track announcer at Williams Grove Speedway following the final checkered flag of the 2023 season.

Starting in September 1987, Ellis spent every Friday night of race season manning the microphone at the historic half-mile dirt track. That’s 36 years – and 36 years is a really long time to do anything in life.

Ellis started doing publicity for the track five years before he began announcing. He’s been driving 95 miles down Interstate 81 to Mechanicsburg, Pa., from his home in Hazleton, Pa., for more than half his life.
