Malukas Leads IndyCar Warm-Up

STEAM CORNERS, Ohio — Rookie David Malukas of Dale Coyne Racing with HMD was the fastest driver in Sunday morning’s warmup session for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the All-New Honda Civic R.

Malukas’ fast lap was 1:07.7110 around the 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in a Honda.

Defending IndyCar Series champion Alex Palou was second was 1:07.9649 in the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing. Points leader and this year’s Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson’s No. 8 Honda was third at 1:07.9714.

Two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden of Team Penske was fourth in the No. 2 Chevrolet at 1:08.0121 and rookie Callum Ilott round out the top five at 1:08.0900.

There were no incidents in the final practice session. Sunday’s race can be seen on NBC at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time with the green flag around 12:45 pm ET.
