Rice Is Iron-Man Victor At Moler

WILLIAMSBURG, Ohio – Josh Rice led all 40 laps to win the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series’ first appearance at Moler Raceway Park Friday.

The $4,000 payday for the Verona, Ky., native marked his second Iron-Man Late Model Series win of the season and third of his career on the tour.

Rice set sail from the outset and reached the tail of the field by lap seven. A slowing Daniel Kattine brought out the first caution on lap 12, but Rice went back to work on the ensuing restart.

Cautions on laps 26 and 38 followed for fourth-running Kody Evans and fifth-running James Rice, respectively, as Rice held serve.

Devin Gelpin finished second, while Duane Chamberlain finishing third. Kirk Phillips and Dustin Nobbe completed the top-five.

The next event for the Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series is Saturday, Aug. 28 at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky., for the $10,022-to-win Harold Hardgrove Memorial.
