Shryock & Thornton Collect IMCA Stock Car Laurels

BOONE, Iowa — Kelly Shryock and Dylan Thornton were the Stock Car feature winners on Friday night at the 41st Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway.

Shryock started third in the opening 25-lap run and led outside front row starter Troy Burkhart to the checkered flag.

“This is the closest I’ve ever started toward the front,” said Shryock, his eye on Saturday. “I’ve won a lot of big races and any time I can pull onto this stage it means a lot to me.”

Cole Czarneski was the driver to watch, though, as he romped from 22nd to finish third. Derrick Agee also moved through the pack, racing from 18th to fourth. Austin Meiners finished fifth.

Thornton charged from 17th in the second stock car qualifier to claim the 25-lap event ahead of Travis Barker.

Jake McBirnie finished third, with Jeff Ware and Stefan Sybesma completing the top five.

All of the action was shown live on SPEED SPORT affiliate IMCA.tv.
