Justin Kay Rules Tipton Deery LM Run

TIPTON, Iowa — Justin Kay scored his fifth straight Deery Brothers Summer Series victory at Cedar County Raceway on Saturday night.

Kay started sixth and passed race leader Andy Eckrich after a lap-12 restart.

Kay led the remainder of the 50-lap main for the win and is now unbeaten at Tipton Deery events since 2014.

Eckrich held on to finish second. Jeremiah Hurst took third over Tyler Bruening and Ryan Dolan.

Late Model heat race wins went to Ryan Dolan, Matt Ryan, Dalton Simonsen, and Justin Kay. BJ Jackson and Chad Holladay won the B Mains.

Thirty-six late models were on hand for the Deery Brothers 2019 season opener.

Troy Cordes led all 20 laps of the Modifed feature and took home the trophy. Cayden Carter closed in on Cordes late in the race, but was unable to mount a challenge for the lead. Carter finished second, with Jeff Aikey third. Wisconsin’s Mike Mullen and Justin Kay rounded out the top five.

Jeff Struck Jr. led flag-to-flag in street stock action.

Brandon Setser held off all challenges en route to victory in the SportMod feature.

The American Iron Racing Series completed the program with Matt Hudspeth scoring the win.
