Harrison Leads Wire-To-Wire

FAIRBURY, Ill. — Leading from wire to wire, Mike Harrison was only slowed by a half dozen yellow flags as he sped to victory in the $1,500-to-win 25-lap modified feature at Fairbury American Legion Speedway Tuesday.

The modified headliner was part of the night’s Castrol FloRacing Night in America “One for the Road” at the quarter-mile dirt oval.

Scoring his 23rd feature win of the season, Harrison, from Highland, Ill., took the checkered flag in front of Jared Thomas, Danny Schwartz, Kenny Wallace, Todd Sherman and Lyndon Whitfill.

A field of 20 started the race with Harrison, who started on the inside of the front row, jetting into the lead, running the high-groove.

Harrison, the evening’s fastest qualifier among 29 entries, led the way, chased by Mike McKinney. McKinney, who had second fast time, eventually dropped out of the race and was credited with a 19th place finish.

Riding the high, outside line, Harrison looked pretty much in command after each green flag restart but saw Thomas put on some pressure after the sixth and final yellow flag with six laps to go.

The finish:

Mike Harrison, Jared Thomas, Danny Schwartz, Kenny Wallace, Todd Sherman, Lyndon Whitfill, Randy Shuman, Tom Pasek, Caden McWhorter, TJ Larson, Steve Stevenson, Mark Rhoades, Matt Fabrizius, Shane Kelley, Ray Bollinger, Trevor Neville, Michael Ledford, Dave Lilja, Mike McKinney, Alan Stipp
