Malone Doubles Down At Havasu

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — Havasu 95 Speedway used New Year’s Day to continue its 2021-22 season on the semi-banked quarter mile.

Summer is very hot, so the track’s season runs from October to April.

Late models raced a pair of 50-lap mains and Parker Malone won the first round, holding off a side-by-side effort by Jeffrey Peterson.

Peterson and Cody Kiemele tangled after the two-wide try ended and the two cars elevated to second and third made it one turn before matching the contact.

Malone was chased to the finish by John Hortger and William Guevaralon with no further contact.

The second 50-lap main became 40 due to cold conditions. Malone started outside front row and timed the start perfectly to lead into turn one and easily led the entire race.  Kiemele was second and John Horgter was third.

Street stocks had a 40-lap main with Ryan Daniel leading six laps before giving up the bottom line, allowing Jeremy Orozco to pounce on the opening. Orozco collected the win while a late race top groove pass led to Jay Henson finishing second with Darrin Secord third.

Jacob Quartaro smoothly dominated the factory stock main while Dylan Reinke and Chris Blackwell completed the podium.

Jake Norman was third in a three car breakaway in the Legend car main until using the bottom of turn four twice, lap 14 to take second and again four laps later to take the lead and eventual win.

A long yellow for oil was made worth waiting for when the final two laps led to the top three coming to the checkers three wide. Jordan Hollowity was second over Sean Hingorani in the exciting finish.

The Bandolero main was cut short after several yellows leaving Jordan Holloway as the winner over Wyatt Dent and Stephen Brazen.
