NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Derek Griffith and rain were the big winners on the opening night of the 57thannual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
Griffith topped the 35-lap sportsman feature, beating Kody Brusso to the checkered flag.
Tim Sozio, Adam Briggs and Danny Frye rounded out the top five.
Rain washed out the other four features on the docket.
Racing continues Saturday with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour headlining the program.
