Five Winners At Mountain Creek Speedway

CATAWABA, N.C. – The second day of the Bell Pro Shop Weekend of Racing at Mountain Creek Speedway on Sunday was met with hot temperatures and even hotter action on the track.

Winners in all classes were presented a Bell mini replica helmet trophy along with all top-five finishers awarded discount coupons from the Bell Pro Shop in Mooresville, N.C.

The youngest competitors in the Cadet division were the first to hit the speedway. At first it appeared Cameron Hyler was going to grab his first win until he went high around lapped traffic, allowing Nolan Fohr to slip past on the bottom. Fohr held off the challenges of Will Spencer and T.J. Pursley to score the win. Cameron Hyler and Tucker Nash competed the top-five.

The Beginner Box Stock race was met with a rash of cautions before the field could get going. When the green flag finally waved, not a single competitor had anything for Beckham Malone as he grabbed the Bell Pro Shop trophy in victory lane. Chase DeMarco and Liam Kane rounded out the podium. Karli Pelfrey and Braxton Cade were fourth and fifth.

The Yamaha 450 Stock class continues to grow with new competitors, but grabbing the checkered was defending track champion and point leader Lou Mattesen, who led wire-to-wire. Newcomer Tony Rhinehart finished second. Nick Hatton, Sam Miller and Dave Bregoli were third through fifth.

The talent in the Box Stock division continues to impress. Early race leader Talon Pelfrey was turned while leading just before the halfway point. It was a fantastic battle on the restart for the lead between Zoey Smith and Gavin Marlin. While they were battling, Pelfrey came from deep in the field to run down the leaders, take the top spot and the Bell Pro Shop trophy in victory lane.

Colt Currie continued to extend his point lead as he led wire-to-wire in the Open division.
