Hanna Scores At Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa — As the racing season starts to wind down, the action is starting to pick up. That was the case Friday night at Davenport Speedway.

Chuck Hanna scored his first Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature win of the season. Hanna took the lead from Logan Duffy on lap eight of the 25-lapper.

After dismissing Duffy, Hanna had to wait until the final five laps for his next challenger, which came in the form of Justin Kay. Kay got to within a car-length of Hanna, but ran out of laps before he could make a bid for the lead.

Duffy held on for third, with Jonathan Brauns and Matt Ryan finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Dustin Kroening made the long trek from Hebron, Illinois payoff with a feature win in the Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified division. Dustin took the lead from Bob Dominacki on lap two and was under attack the rest of the way to the checkers. Kroening had to fend off Terry Rentfro, Mitch Morris and Charlie Mohr to get in victory lane.

Mohr looked to earn a second place finish, but Spencer Diercks took the spot on the final lap. Mohr held on for third, followed by Mitch Morris and Matt Werner.

Tyler Soppe captured his second Davenport points win in IMCA SportMod action. Tyler started fifth and was in front by the end of lap two. Ben Chapman got close to Soppe a couple of times, but had to settle for second. Jarrett Franzen, Ryan Walker, and Logan Veloz rounded out the top five.

Tony VonDresky used a lap eight restart to get by Donnie Louck on his way to a victory in the Koehler Electric Street Stocks. Jesse Owen put the pressure on Tony in the final laps, but came up just a little short. Louck held on to finish third. Jake Lund was fourth, finishing just ahead of Frank Waters.

The QCjeeps.com Sport Compact feature was a two-car battle between Cyle Hawkins and Josh Riley. Josh had the upper hand until the final lap. Hawkins was able to get by for the lead and the win. Riley finished a close second. Tim Sibley, Codie Proehl, and Josh Lane completed the first five. Cyle now has six feature wins for the season at Davenport
