PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Port Royal Speedway officials have put forth another profuse list of events as the track’s 2022 schedule was unveiled Saturday evening.
Thirty-nine days of racing comprise the schedule that begins Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. with winged 410 sprint cars going for a $5,000 winner’s share coupled with the super late models racing for a $3,000 prize.
Winged 410 sprint cars are on the card 31 nights at the Juniata River Valley facility.
Port Royal will continue as the only dirt-track in the nation supplying a point fund for both winged 410 sprint cars and super late models, which are set to make 18 appearances.
It also stands as the only track nationally to host events with a winner’s share of $50,000 or more for sprint cars (Tuscarora 50 sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions on Sept. 10), late models (Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rumble by the River on Aug. 27) and modifieds (Short Track Super Series Speed Showcase 200 on Oct. 15).
The biggest addition to the schedule is the Saturday, June 18 tripleheader featuring the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars ($6,000-to-win), USAC Silver Crown Series ($8,000-to-win) and winged 410 sprints ($5,000-to-win) in the same program.
As previously announced, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series will visit Port Royal a record three times in 2022, starting with an additional date Wednesday, July 20 and rounding out Oct. 7-8. Purse details for the July 20 event are forthcoming.
The All Star Circuit of Champions will return six times to Port Royal: Saturday, April 23 for the Keith Kauffman Classic, May 28-29 for the Bob Weikert Memorial and Tuscarora 50 weekend Sept. 8-10.
The Bob Weikert Memorial finale on Sunday, May 29 will be one of the highest-paying sprint car events nationally at $29,000-to-win.
The 168th installment of the Juniata County Fair will once again see five marquee races: Saturday, Sept. 3 with the $6,333-to-win ULMS late models and 410 sprints; Monday, Sept. 5 with the 71st Labor Day Classic paying $5,000-to-win for the 410 sprints and the Tuscarora 50.
The 55th annual Tuscarora 50 will award $55,000 to the winner, while the Thursday and Friday features will award $8,000 and $10,000 winner’s shares.
Port Royal will once again host two Pennsylvania Speedweek events, the first being Wednesday, June 29 with a $7,000-to-win show and second with the fourth annual Greg Hodnett Classic on Saturday, July 2, awarding $10,000-to-win.
The 16th annual Living Legends Dream Race is set for Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. with a purse of $60,000.Â
Three dates are reserved for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series: April 10 with the $10,000-to-win River Valley 40 and then the Rumble by the River Aug. 26-27, with an Aug. 28 rain date.
Friday’s portion of the Rumble by the River will have twin 25-lap features paying $5,000-to-win.Â
The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Models make a Saturday, May 21 appearance, racing for $10,000-to-win.
The Short Track Super Series makes four appearances, starting Saturday, March 20 at 4 p.m. with a $5,000-to-win event and rounding out at Speed Showcase 200 weekend Oct. 13-15.
Winged 410 sprints join the Super Track Super Series with a $5,000-to-win show on Friday, Oct. 14.
The AMA Flat Track motorcycles return Saturday, July 16, with a start time to be determined.
The ULMS late models will race at Port Royal March 19, March 20, May 7 and Sept. 3.
United Racing Club 360 sprint cars are set to race April 9 and June 29, while the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars appear April 23 and Aug. 20.
The 11th annual Keystone RaceSaver Challenge 305 sprint cars and limited late models serve as the season finale Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.
The track will be off May 14, June 25, July 23 and Aug. 13.
