Roy Scores Third Leg In Canadian Nationals At Cornwall

CORNWALL, Ont. — The Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals made a stop on Sunday night to Cornwall Motor Speedway with a $10,000-to-win event along with Sportsman, Street Stock, Mod-Lite and Vintage divisions.

In the 100-lap Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals Feature, Mat Williamson took the early lead over Mario Clair and Erick Rudolph. The caution flag was out on lap six as an accident occurred in turn two.

Williamson remained in front with Felix Roy moving to third as Clair was still second. Roy was quick using the inside lane and moved to second on lap 15.

Roy was on a tear as he took the lead from Williamson on lap 18. As the leaders were in heavy traffic, Robert Delormier brought the caution out on lap 29. Roy keeping the lead over Williamson and Clair.

As Roy pulled away, Clair was racing side-by-side with Williamson. Another caution flag waved for Steve Bernier on lap 41. On the restart, David Hebert moved to second as the got closer to the leader. Roy, Hebert and Williamson were the top three at the halfway point.

Leaders were in heavy traffic as Williamson passed Hebert for second with 35 laps to go. Roy mastered the lap traffic as he kept Williamson away from him, going on to capture a second feature of the season over Williamson and Tim Fuller who completed the podium.

William Racine won the Sportsman feature, with Alex Forcier scoring the Mod-Lite division. Tyler French reigned in the Street Stock event.
