CORNWALL, Ontario – Pascal Payeur captured the headlining Farnham Ale and Lager Weekend Warriors 50-lap pro-stock feature during a busy Sunday of racing at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
The 50-lap Farnham Ale and Lager Weekend Warriors saw Marc Lalonde taking the lead as Stephane Lebrun and Payeur followed. Polesitter Dany Voghel was back in the mix while Bruno Cyr made his way to the front. Cyr passed Voghel for second with 13 laps down. Cyr had a strong car and got closer to the leader as Denis Hamel brought out the caution on lap 18.
During the restart Cyr took the lead as Lalonde had a flat tire, with caution flag waving on the same lap. Cyr retained the lead during the restart with Voghel and Payeur in third. Cyr checked out at the halfway point as Payeur and Bruno Richard followed in second and third.
The yellow lights came back on with 10 laps and Cyr lost his huge lead. Racing briefly resumed for two laps before Bruno Richard spun in turn four with eight laps left. When the race resumed Cyr and Payeur battled for the lead. With three laps left Payeur went to the inside and took the lead from Cyr, a position he wouldn’t relinquish on his way to the $2,000 prize.Â
Gabriel Cyr was the winner in the 32-lap Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman feature and Jordan Poirier topped the 25-lap mini-stock feature. Eric Desilets (mod-lites), Justin Cyr (novice sportsman) and Randy Gaudet (vintage) were also winners Sunday.
