Owens Tops Sizzler Undercard

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Todd Owens began his defense of his Stafford Speedway SK Modified track title in thrilling fashion Sunday afternoon during the 50th Annual NAPA Spring Sizzler by beating Bryan Narducci by mere inches.

Fellow Chassis Pro driver Derek Debbis began defense of his SK Light championship with a victory.  Michael Wray was victorious in the 30-lap Late Model feature while Anthony Nocella and Anthony Bello won the two 15-lap Last Chance Qualifiers for the afternoon’s NAPA Spring Sizzler.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, David Arute brought the field to the green and he led the first two laps of the race before Owen went to the point on lap three. Ronnie Williams proved quite a challenge as the two trade the lead several times during the mid stages of the race. Narducci entered the frey late, and was side by side with Owens on the last lap with Owen taking the victory a nose. Williams was third with Dan Wesson and Joe Montesanto rounding out the top five.

In the 30-lap late model feature, Michael Wray took the lead from Tom Fearn on lap 19, and held off a challenge from Michael Bennett for the victory.

In the 20-lap SK Light feature, Derek Debbis grabbed the lead on lap 15, and never looked back to pick up his first victory of the season.

Nocella and Bello picked up the victories in the two 15-lap NAPA Spring Sizzler Last Chance Qualifiers  to advance to the 100-lap main card.
