Modifieds, Sprint Cars Set To Open The Grove

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The season opener at Williams Grove Speedway presented by Hoosier will close the month of March with 410 sprint and 358 modified racing coming up on March 31.

The Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars will be in action on opening day with a $5,500 payday at stake in a 25-lap feature event.

The modifieds will see a 30-lap main take the green flag with an even $3,000 going to the winner.

The modified portion of the racing program will be run under Grandview Speedway rules for the division.

It has been several years since modifieds of any kind were in action at The Grove.

The most recent show took place in June, 2016 when the Super Dirt Series modifieds were in action with Matt Sheppard taking the win.

This week’s show of 358 mods will see area champions from 2022 in action including Duane Howard, the reigning Big Diamond Speedway champion.

Also in the field will be Craig Von Dohren, last year’s champion from Grandview Speedway.

Billy Pauch Jr. is also expected to compete along with others.

Justin Peck won the sprint car opener at Williams Grove last season.
