CORNWALL, Ontario – Brianna Ladouceur took advantage of a late-race restart to win the Sportsman Corona Crusher 50 Sunday at Canada’s Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Justin Lalancette led the field of 31 cars to the green flag as Johnathon Ferguson and William Racine raced behind the leader. A lap-three restart opened the door for Ferguson, who got the lead as Racine moved to second. Racine then used the inside lane and passed Ferguson for the lead on lap 11.
Restarts were key in the first 15 laps as Power was able to get by Racine for the lead. Both Power and Racine swapped the lead as Racine went too high on in turn two and lost several positions, giving the top spot to Gabriel Cyr.
The leaders were in traffic when Ferguson crashed, landing on his roof to bring out the red flag. Cyr continued to lead until another caution flag waved with 10 laps to go, setting up another restart.
That’s when Ladouceur struck, taking the lead from Cyr. She would lead the remainder of the way to win the feature over Cyr and Evan Racine.
Other winners on the evening included C.D. Beauchamp in pro stock, Adam Wells in street stocks, James Clarke in mini stock, Josh Power in the vintage class and Xavier Lauzon in the Lightning Sprints.
