It’s Dragon In Vermont Governor’s Cup

BARRE, Vt. — Scott Dragon used a late-race restart Thursday night to power to his third Vermont Governor’s Cup late model victory at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl.

Chip Grenier started on the pole for the 44th annual event at the legendary quarter-mile track and led the first 55 laps of the 150-lap event, but lost the point to Marcel Gravel on lap 56.

Through the second half of the race, Grenier, Dragon and Jason Corliss chased Gravel through lapped traffic.

A yellow flag on lap 114 slowed the pace and gave the leaders a breather. Dragon had moved to second when a final yellow flag set up a showdown between Gravel and Dragon.

Dragon powered into the lead on the restart and held off Gravel for the victory.

Corliss, Nick Sweet and Grenier rounded out the top five.

Kevin Streeter topped the Flying Tiger main event and Logan Farrell won the street stock race.

Neal Foster topped the Road Warrior feature.
