RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Riverhead Raceway finally kicked off its season on Sunday, with David Antos winning the 30-lap street stock feature that headlined the program.
Pole sitter and heat race winner Chris Lescenski moved to the early race lead in the Street Stock event with David Antos who started the race third coming to second slipping under Phil LaManna at the throw of the green.
An early caution for a three car tangle involving Rhett Fogg, Jay Henschel and David White slowed the race early. After Lescenski led the first four laps of the race David Antos flexed showed his prowess on lap five by wrestling the lead away.
Once out front Antos was able to pull away as the race moved along. His EP Milling & Sweep Chevy performed flawlessly for the remainder of the event, allowing him to secure his fifth career street stock victory.
Despite fighting a tight race car Chris Lescenski crossed the line second in the Eastport Feeds Chevy while Brian McCormack was third in the Robo Car Wash entry. Jay Henschel recovered to finish fourth while Greg Harris completed the top five.
Justin Squires dominated the mini stock feature, earning his first victory in the class as a result. Phil LaManna topped the 30-lap Truck Enduro feature, while Sean Fitzpatrick was the winner of the 50-lap 8-Cylinder Enduro. John Palmeri also took home a victory, claiming the top spot in the 50-lap 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro.
