Bernard Banks Cornwall Modified Cash

CORNWALL, Ontario – Steve Bernard captured the 50-lap Back to the Track modified main event on day two of the Back to the Track Super Weekend Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Mike Bowman was the early leader in the Back to the Track 50-lap event with Joey Ladouceur in second and Brian McDonald running third. Bowman built himself a sizeable lead ahead of the field as he got into traffic by lap 20 when the yellow flag waved on lap 23.

During the restart, Ladouceur challenged Bowman for the lead but the leader was able to stay in front as Bernard made his way to third when caution waved on lap 32.

While Bowman was still in front, Bernard started to make the top lane work as he passed Ladouceur for second with 10 laps to go. Bernard gained ground on Bowman and was able to pass him on lap 49 by passing him on the outside to capture the win over Bowman and Ladouceur.

Other winners Sunday included Ryan Stabler (sportsman), Tristan Ladouceur (novice sportsman), Jeffrey Weare (lightning sprints) and James Clarke (mini stocks).
