FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – It was 10 months between RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock races at Speedway 660, but the result was the same.
Ashton Tucker, driving for Brad Silliker Motorsports, raced to the win Sunday afternoon in the Riverview Ford Lincoln Pro Stock 100. The race was the first since SpeedWeekend 2019, when Tucker drove the No. 2 car to the win in the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 last September.
Tucker took advantage of a competition caution and would advance to the lead following the first caution period of the race on lap 40. Cory Hall, who led the field to green and paced the field for a majority of the first half of the race, finished second with Steve Halpin completing the podium finishers.
Nicholas Naugle, who ran in the top three for most of the event, got shuffled back to fourth late in the race. Reigning track champion Brent Roy was fifth at the finish of the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener.
The big story from the afternoon may have been written in the DMR Auto Street Stock division, where Rick Cashol scored a popular victory in the 35-lap feature. Cashol, who has now won a feature event in the Province of New Brunswick in each of the last six decades, edged out reigning track champion Chris Hanley and Justin Cole in a three wide finish at the line. Riley Goodwin and Shawn Hyslop rallied back from the rear of the field early in the race to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Brady Creamer continued his winning ways by taking home the Late Model Sportsman feature in dramatic fashion. Creamer dug deep in the final laps, passing Luc McLaughlin in the closing laps for the victory. The win is Creamer’s third in his last five starts dating back to the end of 2019.
B.J. Gillespie recovered from a missed shift on a mid-race restart to win the 25-lap Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters feature.
