THOROLD, Ontario – Mat Williamson picked up his second victory in as many days with a 358 modified triumph Saturday at Merrittville Speedway.
The victory comes one day after Williamson scored a 358 modified victory at New York’s Ransomville Speedway.
Fred Carleton and Gary Lindberg tangled early in the 35-lap feature to bring out the caution flag. During the restart Chad Chevalier emerged with the lead and began to drive away from the field before Carleton, trying to stay on the lead lap after quick repairs, spun in the turn three in front of Chevalier, ending his chances at victory.
Williamson, who had worked his way to second from 11th starting spot, inherited the lea  and never looked back. Williamson’s margin of victory was about half the race track. Gary Lindberg would rally to finish second, followed by Trevor Wright, Austin Wood and Pete Bicknell.
Other winners Saturday included Brad Rouse (sportsman), Dave Bailey (stocks), Jeffery May (modified lites), Jay Moulton (4-cylinder) and Jordan Fidler (V6).
