Will Kimmel Conquers Halloween 200

SALEM, Ind. – Will Kimmel became the third member of the Kimmel family to win the Halloween 200 for the Lucas Oil Grand American Stock Cars at Salem Speedway on Sunday.

Kimmel dominated much of the race, but had to survive a restart with five laps left to win his first Halloween 200. With Brett Hudson starting to his inside, Kimmel got a great launch and was able to pull away from the battle for second to win the feature.

The victory was worth $10,000 to Kimmel, who joined his uncle Frank Kimmel and cousin Frank Kimmel II as a winner of the Halloween 200.

“Everything went good for us tonight,” Kimmel said. “The talk at the shop all week has been if we get to the end of the race, they’re not going to have anything for us. The car has been excellent the last couple of races up here and we haven’t been able to show it. We were able to show it tonight.”

Shawn Smith finished second after battling past Hudson on the final restart. Hudson ended up third, followed by Jeff Caudell and Alan Williams Jr.

Sunday’s race was broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate Dirt2Media.
