MACON, Ill. – Jeremy Nichols started his season in victory lane in consecutive races Saturday night at Macon Speedway.
Nichols started second in the Weddle Performance Engines Sportsman feature and pulled away to the victory in the 15-lap feature. After finishing his victory lane interview, he hopped back in the car, started second in the Archer’s Alley Street Stock feature and proceeded to lead every lap of that feature as well.
Nichols had more to work in the Street Stock feature. After being winded from the first feature, the Street Stock race featured many cautions and pauses, which kept Nichols on the track longer. The race picked up momentum and scored seven consecutive green flag laps and Nichols opened up the lead ahead of Terry Reed. Despite the challenge, Nichols held serve throughout the race.
The Pro Modifieds featured a special $1,000-to-win attraction on opening night and the race was a special 20-lap event. Following a caution-plagued Street Stock feature, the Pro Modifieds had zero trouble and ran the entire 20-lap event without a caution flag. Ryan Hamilton led from wire-to-wire to win the big money.
Defending and two-time BillingsleyRewards.com Modifieds track champion Tommy Sheppard Jr. carried the winner’s flag, continuing a streak of six-straight Macon Speedway victories dating back to the end of last season.
Jose Parga got his season started on the right foot with the Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model division with a feature victory on opening night.
The night ended with a side-by-side finish in the Hornet division. Allen Harris beat Billy Mason to the finish line in dramatic fashion for the first victory of his short career.
