Tomasik Captures Grundy $10,000 Late Model Special

MORRIS, Ill. — Scotty Tomasik won the $10,000 late model stock car special that was part of the Autumn Harvest presented by D’Arcy Motors and Ebbey George’s Bar & Grill Saturday evening at the Grundy County Speedway.

The 50-lap chase at the third-mile paved oval was open only to ten top drivers in the final Grundy late model standings.

Coming from his third row inside starting spot, Tomasik in his Chevrolet No. 4 took the lead after an early pass of leader Ricky Baker and never looked back, building a comfortable margin until the race’s only yellow flag flew with four laps to go.

Tomasik held off Baker on the restart and raced to his big payday by 0.357-seconds over Baker, Anthony Danta, 2023 late model champion Eddie Hoffman and last year’s champ D.J. Weltmeyer.

2023 division titlist Kenny Benson won the 20-lap sportsman feature ahead of Scotty Gardner and James Dean.  Sal Lozano won the 20-lap street stock main event over Chad Bayuk and Sy Salinas.

Ethan Wolf claimed top honors in the 20-lap pure stock (four-cylinder) feature with JoJo Fadke winning the Midwest Super Cup headliner and the overall series title.

Travis Mahoney won the 20-lap feature race for the Midwest Mayhem Midgets – his sixth win of the season.  Mahoney finished ahead of Tom Schnabel and Mike Slabenak. Chad Bayuk copped the 15-lap hobby stock main ahead of Kellen Arnold and Ken Unland.

The Finish:

Scotty Tomasik, Ricky Baker, Antony Danta, Eddie Hoffman, D.J. Weltmeyer, Keith Tolf, Larry Schuler, Jim Weber, Blake Brown, Scott Koerner.
