KOKOMO, Ind. – Travis Stemler cashed a $2,020 check Saturday night for his win in the late model finale of the two-day Kokomo Klash XIV at Kokomo Speedway.
Stemler led the majority of the 25-lap feature, only giving up command briefly after the halfway point before retaking the point for good on lap 17. He beat runner-up Mike Spatola to the checkered flag by .917 seconds.
Devin Gilpin finished third at the quarter-mile Indiana dirt track, followed by Bill Sheets and Shelby Miles.
Cody Bauer, Glen Thompson, Ryan Lanphierd, Lynn Johns and Cole Swibold filled out the top 10 at the finish.
Dillon Nusbaum won the accompanying 25-lap modified feature, leading the last four laps after a scrap with race-long leader James Walters, who failed to finish the final three circuits.
Nick Allen came in second behind Nusbaum, followed by Todd Sherman, Frank Marshall and Corey Becard.
