Sheppard Seizes Opportunity At Macon

MACON, Ill. — Defending Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model division champion Colby Sheppard waited patiently in third Saturday night at Macon Speedway while Braden Johnson and Dalton Ewing raced hard for the lead. On a restart with five laps to go, the two made contact, and Sheppard seized the opportunity, grabbing the lead and never looking back.

Ewing recovered to finish second. Chase Osterhoff was third with Colby Eller and Billy Knippenberg rounding out the top five.

Rick Conoyer made contact with leader Rodney Standerfer during the BillingsleyRewards.com Modified feature, allowing third-place Jacob Steinkoenig to take the lead from both. Steinkoenig took the victory with Standerfer getting second.

A near photo-finish took place in the 51 Bistro Street Stocks where newcomer Zane Reitz won by a nose from Tanner Sullivan, last week’s feature winner.

Wes O’Dell grabbed top honors in the Weddle Performance Engines Sportsman feature while 15-year-old Austin Seets led every lap to win the Pro Modifieds feature.

The Hornet division was won by Jeremy Reed.
