Lawrenceburg Hosts Merrill Downey Memorial Saturday

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – UMP modified competitors from across the region will invade Lawrenceburg Speedway this Saturday night to compete in the 10th annual running of the Merrill Downey Memorial.

The event, which will pay $10,444 to the winner of the 44-lap UMP modified main event that is named in honor of late racer Merrill Downey, will be broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate Dirt2Media.

David Stremme is the two-time and defending winner of the event, joining 2018 and 2015 winner Tyler Nicely as the only two-time winners of the feature. 

Other winners of the Merrill Downey Memorial include Lucas Lee (2017), Victor Lee (2016), Nick Hoffman (2015), Joey Kramer (2013) and Devin Gilpin (2012).

Super late models will also be in action at Lawrenceburg Speedway Saturday, with local competitors battling in a $1,500-to-win feature on the undercard.Â
