Knebel Sweeps Double Features At Macon

MACON, Ill. – Billy Knebel was the star of the show on Saturday at Macon Speedway, sweeping double features for the pro modified division during a busy night of racing.

The double features were the result of a rainout two weeks prior, but Knebel didn’t seem to mind. Knebel started on the pole for the first feature and ran alongside Nick Justice early on before pulling ahead on lap three.

Knebel appeared on his way to an easy victory, but a spinning car on lap 10 and some contact with a lapper car resulted in some damage to the bumper of his car. The damaged proved to be minor as Knebel held on to collect the victory in the first feature.

For the second race, Justice started on the pole with Knebel right behind him in the second row. The race was slowed by several cautions late in the race as Justice held the lead on the bottom of the track.

When the white flag waved Knebel got to the inside of Justice to take the lead away down the backstretch, stealing the win at the checkered flag. Justice was forced to settle for second in both features.

The pro late model division was also in action twice on Saturday, with Jose Parga and Jake Little splitting the two features. Ray Bollinger was the winner in the modified class, while Dennis Vander Meersch (sportsman), Bobby Beiler (street stocks) and Erik Vanapeldoorn (hornets) also collected victories.
