Jurkovic Gets Rowdy & Wins Berlin Icebreaker

MARNE, Mich. – Boris Jurkovic was fast on Saturday night at Berlin Raceway, and the longtime super late model veteran had a good reason for it, too.

Jurkovic piloted a Kyle Busch Motorsports-built Rowdy Manufacturing chassis to victory lane at the seven-sixteenths-mile oval, winning the eighth annual Icebreaker with his No. 53 Toyota Camry.

The 49-year-old from Monee, Ill., charged to the point by lap eight of the 75-lap super late model feature and never gave up the top spot after that, holding off fellow veteran Brian Campbell down the stretch for top honors.

Jurkovic crossed under the checkered flag in front by .524 of a second over Campbell.

By virtue of his opening night win, Jurkovic locked himself into the $20,000-to-win Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin, set for June 10 and sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series.

Nate Walton, Tom Thomas and Chris Koslek completed the top five, while standout young gun Carson Hocevar struggled for much of the night and finished a distant eighth.

The finish:

Boris Jurkovic, Brian Campbell, Nate Walton, Tom Thomas, Chris Koslek, Lee Vandyke, Lauren Bush Sokoloski, Carson Hocevar, Dave Lake, Michael Simko, Terry VanHaitsman, Nick Delongpre, Scott Thomas, Tim Devos, Johnny VanDoorn, Evan Shotko, Trevor Mccoy, Brian Tillema, Jim Webber.
