Xfinity Drills A Wash In Vegas; Custer Starts First Again

LAS VEGAS – For the second week in a row, Cole Custer will lead the field to the green flag due to a NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying washout.

Custer inherited the top starting spot for the Boyd Gaming 300 when qualifying was cancelled due to rain at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, setting the field by the NASCAR Rule Book.

Unlike a week ago, when he finished second to Christopher Bell at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Custer will hope to seal the deal this time in the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang.

Lining up alongside Bell once again will be Chad Finchum, whose No. 42 Amana/Smithbilt Homes Toyota from Motorsports Business Management inherited the points from the now-defunct Chip Ganassi Racing Xfinity Series program after that team closed during the offseason.

Bell will start from the inside of the second row in his pursuit of a second-straight series win, alongside fellow series regular Noah Gragson, who pilots the No. 9 Switch Chevrolet for JR Motorsports.

Austin Cindric rolls off fifth, followed by series debutant Zane Smith and veteran Justin Allgaier.

All-time series wins leader Kyle Busch, who won Friday night’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race, will continue his pursuit of a tripleheader sweep from eighth.

Defending series champion Tyler Reddick starts 12th, while Daytona winner Michael Annett grids 16th.

Notably, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Austin Dillon is buried 31st on the grid, and will have a long way to come on Sunday if he wants to win in the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet.
