NASCAR Penalizes Xfinity Owner, Driver For Illegal Test

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR officials have fined Xfinity Series team owner Mario Gosselin $50,000 and docked him 75 owner points for violating the organization’s private testing policy.

The penalty stems from Gosselin’s DGM Racing and driver Alex Labbe taking part in an SCCA event on the Daytona Int’l Speedway road course last weekend. The event was taking place on nearly the same layout as the upcoming NASCAR events on Aug. 14-16.

NASCAR teams in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series will all compete on the road course without practice. Labbe was taking part in the SCCA event utilizing a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro stock car.

In addition to the $50,000 fine against Gosselin, Labbe has been penalized with the loss of 75 driver points.

In a Twitter post late Tuesday afternoon, DGM Racing announced they planned to appeal the penalties.
