TALLADEGA, Ala. – Two NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series teams have been issued L1 level penalties for issues discovered in pre-race inspection Saturday morning at Talladega Superspeedway.
The No. 52 Halmar Friesen Racing Toyota driven by Stewart Friesen and the No. 9 CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Codie Rohrbaugh both failed inspection after officials ruled both trucks violated Section 20.4.12.c of the NASCAR Rulebook. The rule pertains to vent holes on the truck bed.
As a result, both trucks were penalized 20 driver and owner points and No. 52 crew chief Trip Bruce III and No. 9 crew chief Doug George were suspended for Saturday’s race.
Both drivers will be allowed to retain their starting positions in Saturday’s race. Friesen will start 13th, with Rohrbaugh scheduled to start 34th.
The Chevrolet Silverado 250 is scheduled to begin shortly after 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on FS1.
