ARCA West To Race At UMC With Spectators

TOOELE VALLEY, Utah — The Utah Motorsports Campus will host the second ARCA Menards Series West event of the season on June 27 and spectators will be permitted to attend the event.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for the series, formerly known as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West prior to NASCAR acquiring ARCA in 2018, which raced at the track annually from 2007-14 and in 2016.

The event will be a one-day show, with practice, qualifying and two 30-lap races taking place on the 2.2-mile East Course. Gates will open at 11 a.m. An official schedule will be released in the near future.

Having consulted with Tooele County, track officials will offer 500 spectator tickets for the event, the first UMC event of the yeaer that has allowed spectators.

In accordance with county and state regulations, all guests’ temperatures will be taken at the gate, and social-distancing rules will be in force. All UMC staff will wear masks, and public touchpoints will be disinfected on an ongoing basis.

Tickets for the event are priced at $50 per ticket, plus taxes and fees, but a limited number will be available at $35 per ticket (plus taxes and fees) for early purchasers.

All ticket sales will be done electronically (including on the event day if any tickets remain available). There will also be a $5 per car parking fee that can be paid by cash or card on the day of the event (credit and debit cards are strongly encouraged to minimize contact). Tickets can be purchased now and on the day of the event (depending on availability). Click here for more information.

“It’s a little later than we’d planned, but we’re thrilled to welcome NASCAR-style racing back to UMC,” said Dixon Hunt, UMC Senior Vice President. “The COVID-19 pandemic has mandated some changes, but we’re rolling with the punches and doing the best we can to bring world-class racing back to our great Utah fans. We look forward to seeing 500 happy faces in our grandstands, enjoying the sights and sounds of those thundering stock cars once again. It’s nice, finally, to be able to say, ‘Let’s go racing!’”

ARCA will also make its inaugural trip to Irwindale, the progressive-banked, half-mile oval outside of Los Angeles that has been a series’ staple since it opened in 1999. The West division has run 27 points events there, most recently with Trevor Huddleston edging Tanner Gray by .03 seconds last season.

The 125-lap race will be run without pit stops.

Irwindale will be run with the event limited to essential race personnel only and no spectators per state and local guidelines.
