HICKORY, N.C. – After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CARS Tour Honeywell Home Throwback 276 presented by Baker Distributing is set to return on Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway.
The event will once again feature numerous throwback schemes as well 138-lap races for the CARS Late Model Stock Tour and CARS Super Late Model Tour. The number of combined laps – 276 – is the same distance as the final NASCAR Cup Series race held at Hickory in 1971.
For fans unable to attend the race, SPEED SPORT TV affiliate Pit Row TV will broadcast the entire event live.
Twenty-nine competitors have pre-entered in the CARS Late Model Stock Tour division, with a number of them set to feature the aforementioned throwback schemes. Those schemes will honor a wide range of drivers, including Wayne Patterson, Jack Ingram, Tommy Houston, Tim Richmond, Freddy Fryar, Bobby Allison and Ricky Hendrick.
Joining series regulars like Layne Riggs, Bobby McCarty, Mike Looney and Justin Johnson are interlopers like local drivers Ryan Millington and Mitch Walker as well as NASCAR star and 2014 Hickory track champion Josh Berry and touring super late model ace Bubba Pollard.
In the super late model division, Carson Kvapil returns to competition in the hopes of sweeping the CARS Super Late Model Tour races at Hickory Motor Speedway this season. He’ll try to fend off the man he beat in a photo finish in the spring, Matt Craig, as well as NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regulars Zane Smith and Chandler Smith and local favorite Brandon Setzer.
As part of the Throwback 276, the event will feature a fan fest that will include an autograph session with Scott Riggs, Joe Nemechek, David Reutimann, Bosco Lowe, David Green and Larry Pollard.
Qualifying is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. EST, followed by the fan fest. Racing is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
